Behind the Scenes: Planning a Cultural Festival

Legacy Frame Team · September 2, 2026 · 1 min read

A festival looks effortless from the crowd. Behind it sits a run of show measured in minutes, a permit file thick enough to need its own folder, and a production schedule that starts counting down months before the gates open.

Start with the permit timeline, not the lineup

Venue and city permits typically take the longest to clear, so they set the real deadline for everything else — booking, staging and vendor contracts all work backward from that date.

Build the run of show in fifteen-minute blocks

Fifteen-minute blocks give enough room for changeovers without leaving dead air on stage, and they make it easy to spot where the schedule is genuinely too tight.

None of this replaces a good lineup. It just makes sure the lineup actually happens on time.
